Personal Perspectives
Why are you interested in becoming a member of the Board of Directors of FRP Canada?
I was interested in becoming a Board member of FRP Canada as I had recently relocated to Ottawa and wanted to be involved in the city’s volunteer sector. As my husband and I had quit our jobs and moved from Toronto to work on reconnecting with family and possibly staring our own, FRP Canada seemed like the perfect fit. One of the major reasons I was interested in FRP Canada was that I had no previous experience in this area, and was looking to learn through my volunteer work.
What skills, knowledge and experience will you bring to the board?
As my work experience is not centered on family resource programs, I primarily bring financial skills to the Board. As a Chartered Accountant I have provided assurance, accounting and related advisory services to public and private companies. In my work as an internal auditor I am accountable for evaluating risk and conducting financial and operational audits. This experience has allowed me to develop a specialized knowledge of accounting standards, financial analysis, internal controls and risk evaluations. My experience includes evaluating key financial data and making recommendations to executives and Boards. My experience and knowledge allow me to bring to the Board the fundamental skills for responsible and effective corporate governance. |
